Europe is introducing a green pact with the goal of becoming the first carbon-neutral nation by 2050.
“This pact will reduce emissions while creating jobs and improving our quality of life. It is the green thread that will run through all our policies – from transportation to taxation, from food to agriculture, from industry to infrastructure. We want to invest in clean energy and expand the emissions trading system, but also strengthen the circular economy and preserve Europe’s biodiversity,” confirms Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
